As we celebrate World Literacy Day/International Literacy Day under the theme “Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces” we will be featuring four schools/homes that FFTP (Guyana) has continuously collaborated with, so greater impact can be made in the life of learners.
- Uitvlugt Outdoor Library continues to be a positive impact on the lives of the children in the community. Every Sunday, the group has Literacy Sessions and Literacy Awareness Sessions where the children in the community practice reading or writing skills and complete parts of speech challenges.
The Uitvlugt Outdoor Library positively nurtures the children and adults physically, emotionally, and socially, gearing at promoting a better society.
- Kairuni Nursery School caters to the holistic development of learners by creating a positive learning space. This learning space ensures knowledge, skills, and attitude; through various innovative educational methods are taught.
- Literacy Empowerment Assistance Foundation (LEAF) in Region 6 continues to promote and bring awareness of the importance of education, literacy and learning to the financially vulnerable and at-risk children and youths of New Amsterdam and its environs. LEAF has been pivotal in helping financially at-risk children of all ages improve their self-confidence and self-esteem, and positively advance their academic achievements.
- Camal Home has an ongoing literacy program at Camal Home which aim to combat the learning loss suffered by students in the home during the 18 months that schools were closed during the pandemic. A total of 17 children are participating in the literacy program at Camal Home.
These four schools/homes continue to make a difference in the lives of many children, and FFTP (Guy) Inc is delighted to be a part of these initiatives.
