Food for the Poor (Guy) Inc. and the Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association (GRPA) signed a significant memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at advancing humanitarian efforts and fostering community development across Guyana.
The document was signed on Wednesday at the GRPA headquarters by Chief Executive Officer for FFTP(Guy) Inc. Ms. Andrea Benjamin and GRPA Executive Director Mr. Kobe Smith.
The collaboration marks a pivotal moment in addressing pressing socio-economic challenges, particularly in underserved regions. As part of the agreement, FFTP (Guy) Inc contributed personal hygiene kits to GRPA for distribution in Regions 7 and 8. These kits will serve to promote essential hygiene practices and alleviate hardships faced by vulnerable populations.
FFTP (Guy) Inc. CEO Ms. Andrea Benjamin shared, “The time is now for us to make big changes. I do believe partnership and collaboration is the way to go as the private sector has taken that mandate and ran with it, in terms of youth and youth involvement and leadership. FFTP (Guy) Inc. and GRPA do have a similar mandate, in terms of serving the people. We are going to be supporting the GRPA with their work in regions 7 and 8.”
GRPA’s Executive Director Mr. Kobe Smith noted that the association is intent on being consistent with partnerships such as the one they have forged with FFTP (Guy) Inc. “Through these kinds of partnerships, you can ensure that we will keep women and girls at the center of our work as this is our mandate. We want to bring those individuals back at the center, because at times we miss the mark and we are caught up with what is around us and not focusing on the impact. Hence, with this collaboration we can deliver to these individuals and make an impact,” he posited.
The collaboration between FFTP (Guy) Inc. and GRPA underscores a shared commitment to addressing critical needs and fostering sustainable development initiatives. Through joint efforts, both organizations aspire to make a tangible difference in the lives of Guyanese citizens, empowering them to thrive and prosper.
