In a significant show of community support and corporate social responsibility, Food For the Poor (Guyana) Inc. (FFTP), in collaboration with the Marriott Hotel “Serve 360 Sustainability Program,” has donated thirty-two (32) hampers to eight homes under the FFTP (Guyana) Inc. Angels of Hope Program. The donation event took place on Friday, May 31, 2024.
Each hamper was thoughtfully prepared to meet the essential needs of the homes, containing items such as bath soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, rice, chowmein, Chinese sauce, milk powder, sugar, and storybooks.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ms. Kaleda Crandon, Angels of Hope Coordinator, emphasized the importance of such initiatives. “This collaboration between Food For the Poor and Marriott Hotel is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together to support those in need. These hampers will make a significant difference in the lives of the children and caregivers in our Angels of Hope homes,” she stated.
Ms. Glennis Smith, Administrator of A Sanctuary Home, expressed her gratitude: “Thanks to FFTP (Guy) Inc. for always looking out for us. To the Marriott, thank you; you have thought of all the basic necessities and I know the children will love it. We are grateful for this collaboration and we know it will make a difference in the lives of our children.”
Collaboration is crucial in addressing the needs of vulnerable, food-insecure families. Food For the Poor (Guyana) Inc. believes that collaboration is the cornerstone of progress. By pooling resources, knowledge, and efforts, the impact of such initiatives can be magnified. Together, sustainable strategies can be developed that not only offer immediate relief but also empower these families to break the cycle of food insecurity.
The Marriott Hotel “Serve 360 Sustainability Program” exemplifies the company’s commitment to creating positive and sustainable impacts wherever they conduct business. This program is guided by their 2025 Sustainability and Social Impact Goals, as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to foster resilience and sustainability in communities around the world.
