With a smile on her face and joy in her heart, Ms. Barclay stated “I have never been so happy in my life, thank you Food for the Poor for making my dream of becoming a homeowner a reality. My home is a testament that with God, all things are possible.”
Ms. Desiree Barclay is the latest recipient of the Food for the Poor (Guy) Inc General Housing Programme and is a single parent of four (4) boys, ages 11 to 23 years old.
Ms. Barclay is a qualified teacher but was diagnosed with post-natal depression and became ill. She overcame many challenges including mental illness and unemployment.
Her home was constructed, in Region 3- Parfaite Harmonie and includes a rain harvesting component to assist in safely storing water for consumption and domestic purposes. One double bed, two single folding beds, a folding table, four folding chairs, and a two-burner gas stove.
