Contract signed for Hauraruni Village Water Enhancement Project

A contract was signed by FFTP(Guyana) CEO Mr. Kent Vincent and GWI Contractor Mr. Otis George for the upgrade of the existing water system in Hauraruni Village, Soesdyke /Linden Highway – ‘Hauraruni Village Water Enhancement Project.’

Hauraruni Village, current distribution system was built to accommodate only 15 families. Solar energy is used to power the existing well and the panels only provide between four and five hours of energy each day, and none at night or in the early morning, when residents do their chores. During the rainy season when there is prolonged rainfall, the pump does not work.

The project aims to upgrade the existing water system and ensure that the current well is functioning to full capacity and that each resident has direct access to safe water.
The project aims to improve access to safe water for 70 families in the community, which is approximately 400 beneficiaries, including 22 children who are a part of the Hauraruni Girls’ Home.

Work is expected to commence on the project in two weeks.
