DONATION OF AGRICULTURAL TOOLS TO MAHAICA WOMEN’S GROUP

As we conclude Agriculture month under the theme- “Championing Food Security through innovation, investment and resilience” we are highlighting the Mahaica Women’s Group. The group has been in operation for over 20 years and supports each other. They believe that Agriculture is an important engine of growth and reduces poverty.

Food for the Poor (Guy) has been making significant contributions towards Agriculture for many years and supports the Government’s agenda of developing the Agriculture sector.

FFTP also supports women in Agriculture, and all our agricultural programs and projects are geared towards increased production and improved cultivation by the introduction of climate-smart agriculture.

Food for the Poor donated several tools to the Mahaica Women’s Group to further enhance their farming. In total, 102 Agricultural tools, including hoes, hoes with handles, pick axes, pick axe with handles, machetes, forks, shovel squares with handles, triangular files, and spades were handed over.

The Chairman of the Mahaica Women’s Group, Ms. Debbie Argyle stressed that the donation came in a timely manner, and she is very thankful to Food for the Poor (Guy) Inc. She promised that the group would make the best use of the tools.
