Food For the Poor (Guyana) Inc.’s Learning Pod Program supports 20 students in Baramita village, Matarkai Sub District Region 1. The program, a partnership with STEM Guyana provides access to advanced education in core subject areas such as Mathematics, Science, English, and Social Studies, helping to bridge the educational gap. Additionally, technology and Engineering are taught as part of the Robotics Component of the program.
The program has been instrumental in enhancing the learning process for students through interactive and interdisciplinary learning, promoting Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving skills, hands-on learning, Increased Engagement and Motivation, Collaboration and Teamwork, and building the student’s confidence and self-esteem. Additionally, exposure to STEM fields at an early age can inspire children to pursue further education and careers in STEM, potentially leading to better job opportunities. Skills gained from STEM programs, such as coding, engineering principles, and digital literacy, are valuable in the modern job market.
Integrating STEM programs, including robotics, into Baramita’s educational landscape will help foster a generation of well-rounded, skilled, and motivated individuals better prepared to contribute to their community and the broader society.
