Food for the Poor (Guyana) Inc. collaborated with the United States Embassy Humanitarian Assistance Program (USEHAP) to distribute food items to forty (40) families in Bartica, Region 7. A modest ceremony was held at the FFTP Complex Boardroom on February 21, 2024, during which various food items were handed over to Mr. Daniel Lee, Mr. Diego Valencia, and Mr. Tony Jackson, members of the Embassy Civil Affairs Team.
The food items comprised canned black beans, canned mackerel, canned mixed vegetables, flour, rice, and manna rice.
Ms. Andrea Benjamin, CEO of FFTP (Guy) Inc., disclosed that the organization’s strategic plan aims to provide increased assistance to the hinterland region. “We are pleased to collaborate with USEHAP to support families in Region 7. We recognize the dire socio-economic conditions in the hinterland regions, necessitating food relief. This is one of several initiatives we plan to undertake to aid families in Regions 1, 7, 8, and 9.”
Gifts-in-Kind Manager, Ms. Tabitha Barnwell, expressed FFTP (Guy) Inc.’s satisfaction in partnering with USEHAP, noting that the donation would provide relief to vulnerable families. She emphasized the significance of networking with other organizations, thus underscoring FFTP (Guy) Inc.’s pride in collaborating with USEHAP.
Daniel Lee, speaking on behalf of USEHAP, conveyed gratitude to Food For the Poor (Guy) Inc. for the donated food items, recognizing their substantial assistance in outreach efforts. He highlighted the benefits to the Bartica community and the support provided to vulnerable families, expressing anticipation for future collaborations.
Food for the Poor (Guyana) Incorporated (FFP) is the largest charitable non-governmental organization (NGO) in Guyana. The work of FFTP Guyana is limited to charitable purposes within the ten (10) administrative regions of Guyana. The organization has grown tremendously over the past 32 years and has become the largest charitable organization in Guyana. The organization operates under the theme of “Transforming Communities, Renewing Hope, and Saving Lives.”
