On Monday, November 20, 2023, Food For The Poor (Guy) Inc., under its Angels of Hope Program, donated household appliances to five homes. The homes were Joshua House (gas stove), Save ‘R’ Kids (gas stove), St. John’s Bosco (washing machine), A Sanctuary (washing machine), and Hauraruni Girls Home (washing machine).
Angels of Hope Coordinator, Ms. Kaleeda Crandon, shared, “We are proud to be donating these items to the homes. This project came about when we conducted a needs assessment in the homes. From there, we identified five homes that urgently required these appliances. I am proud to say that these items will have a long-lasting impact on homes.”
Caregiver of the Hauraruni Girls Home, Ms. Karen Roberts, explained that her home is extremely delighted to receive a brand-new washing machine. She further revealed that the machine will greatly assist the home, and is optimistic that the partnership with the Hauraruni Girls Home and Food For The Poor (Guy) Inc. will continue to thrive.
Additionally, basic needs packages were donated to all eight homes participating in the program. These homes were: A Sanctuary Children’s Home, St. John’s Bosco Boys’ Orphanage, Joshua House Children’s Centre, Ruimveldt Children’s Home, Hope Children’s Home, and Hauraruni Girls’ Home. The items included cooking oil, sugar, sweet corn, chowmein, chinese sauce, all-purpose seasoning, chicken sausages, milo, personal care items, laundry detergent and bleach.
Mr. Horace Legall, Administrator of the Bless the Children’s Home, expressed his gratitude to Food For The Poor (Guy) Inc. and Angels of Hope for providing essential items to meet their basic needs. Mr. Legall mentioned that the organization has been providing the home with essential items throughout the year. He explained that the items have always been a blessing to the children.
The Angels of Hope Program was established 18 years ago to assist children who have been abandoned or orphaned by their families. The program provides food, clothing, infrastructure work, school supplies, and other assistance that may be needed and can be accessed through Food For The Poor (Guy) Inc.
