Food For The Poor (Guy) Inc. has collaborated with the United States Embassy Humanitarian Assistance Program (USEHAP) to host a Medical Outreach in Region 1, Matthew’s Ridge, Matarkai Sub District on June 10, 2023.A simple ceremony was held at FFTP Complex Boardroom on Tuesday May 30, 2023 where a number of food items were handed over to Mr. Justin Overstreet, Ms. Rebecca Herr and Mr. Ryan Glacken members of the Embassy Civil Affairs Team.The food items consisted of shelf safe food items mainly canned beans (red kidney, black and green), manna rice and canned mackerel. The items will be use to provide food support to five hundred (500) persons who will be attending the medical outreach organized by the Humanitarian Assistance Program.FFTP (Guy) Inc. CEO Mr. Kent Vincent explained that FFTP (Guy) Inc. has collaborated with USEHAP before and feels privileged to partner with them once more. He disclosed that FFTP will continue to cater to the needs of the poor in Guyana.Speaking on behalf of the USEHAP, Mr. Justin Overstreet stated that the goal of the outreach is to provide prosperity and security to under privilege areas and show the residents of the area that the US Embassy can be a trusted ally to the people of Guyana.This donation is in keeping with FFTP (Guy) Inc’s mandate to support families in vulnerable communities in Hinterland Regions.About Food for the Poor (Guyana) Inc. Food for the Poor Guyana Fund was founded on March 22, 1991 under the governance of a Trust Deed. The organization Food for the Poor (Guyana) Inc. however commenced operations in Guyana on 3rd June, 1991 and is one of seventeen (17) countries which are associated with Food for the Poor Inc. of Coconut Creek, Florida U.S.A, which was founded by Mr. Ferdinand Mahfood in 1982. Food for the Poor (Guyana) is a relief and developmental organization; it is located at 1999-2002 Blue Mountain Road Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown. The work of FFTP Guyana is restricted to charitable purposes within the ten (10) Administrative Regions of Guyana. The organization has grown tremendously over the 30 plus years of existence and has become the largest charitable organization in Guyana.The organization operates under the theme: Transforming Communities, Renewing Hope, Saving Lives. One of the major activities of the organization is the Distribution/Outreach Program. Items such as food, clothing, footwear and personal care items, to name a few are distributed to the poor and needy throughout the ten regions of Guyana. Medical equipment and supplies are also distributed to the Ministry of Health, Public Hospitals and Health Centres across the country. Schools also benefit from school furniture, books, teaching aids and stationery.
