We will highlight two of our water projects, in Hauraruni Village and Tobago Hill. In Hauraruni, seventy families benefited along with the primary school, clinic, and Hauraruni Girls Home from the FFTP (Guy) Inc project. From this, primary and secondary lines were linked to various households to have direct access to water (in their yard).
In Tobago Hill, Region 1, a water trestle was constructed to store and distribute water. Thirty-two (32) households benefited from rainwater harvesting systems, which included guttering for their homes, 450-gallon water tanks with fittings, wooden trestles, 5-gallon storage jars, and buckets for water storage.
Water is essential to life on Earth. It covers the majority of the Earth’s surface, makes up over 50% of our bodies, produces our food, and supports livelihoods. But this precious resource is not infinite and we need to stop taking it for granted. What we eat and how our food is produced both have an impact on water. Together, we can take water action for food and be the change.
