Project Officer FFTP- Orin Nelson with NAREI Research Scientist Head of Spices Department – Mr Ramnarace Sukhna

On Tuesday, 17 January 2023, FFTP(Guy) Inc donated simple agricultural tools such as hoes, machetes, forks, shovels, and files while NAREI donated ginger to the farmers to boost their cultivation and capacity of the farmers. The handing over was done at the Port Kaituma Office.

This initiative will impact the lives of 140 farmers from villages in the Matarkai Sub District, Port Kaituma.

The farmers praised FFTP(Guy) Inc and NAREI for this needed collaboration. One (1) of the farmers Mr. Cyril Adams emphasized that this initiative will benefit a lot of people and increase farming in the community. He further stated that the tools will be of great assistance because we need tools to farm.

Access to agricultural inputs such as basic tools, seeds, and technical support is essential for farmers and institutions to meet the food demands of the region. The Hinterland regions are the most suitable areas for spice cultivation, hence, the expansion and collaboration of this initiative.
