On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, FFTP (Guy) Inc. collaborated with the (CCMSO) to set up a small business (Snack stand) for Ms Selena Dundas at St. Cuthbert’s Mission located on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway. Ms Dundas is a survivor of domestic violence and a single mother of two.The items donated were one (1) 10×10 tent, one (1) folding chair, one (1) 2×4 folding table, one (1) calculator, one (1) notebook and an assortment of snack items.
Speaking at the simple handover was FFTP (Guy) Inc Social Worker Ms Stacy Parris who stated that FFTP feels elated because we are able to make a significant impact in the life of Ms. Selena Dundas. We know that through this initiative she will be able to take her business to the next level and provide a better living for her children. Hence, we are proud to partner with CCMSO for this initiative.”Also, sharing her sentiments was CCMSO Project Manager Ms. Kean Chase who noted that it is a privilege for her organization to assist Ms. Selena Dundas. “One of the things we do at our office is assist vulnerable mothers and persons across Guyana, in supporting their dreams of coming out of their situations. So, it is a great privilege for us to collaborate with FFTP (Guy) Inc. and offer support to Selena in becoming a first-time businesswoman.
We are happy with the initiative and open to future collaborations,” Chase posited.Deputy Toshao Mr. Leroy Gonputh commended FFTP and CCMSO for the excellent initiative. He explained that over the years FFTP (Guy) Inc. has been assisting the community and the initiative taken to assist Ms. Selena Dundas will aid her tremendously. Mr Dundas further thanked FFTP (Guy) Inc. and CCMSO for the excellent work they have done and is looking forward to working with them in the future.After receiving the items, an elated Ms. Selena Dundas stated, “I am so happy, that FFTP (Guy) Inc. has started me off with this small business. I am so thankful because I have two children and I have to raise them, so I am very grateful for the help given. I am also thankful for the counselling that I have received and I know that the assistance I have received will help me to grow my business and have a better life.”About Food for the Poor (Guyana) Inc.Food for the Poor (Guyana) is a relief and developmental organization; it is located at 1999-2002 Blue Mountain Road Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown. The work of FFTP Guyana is restricted to charitable purposes within the ten (10) Administrative Regions of Guyana. The organization has grown tremendously over the 32 years and has become the largest charitable organization in Guyana. The organization operates under the theme: Transforming Communities, Renewing Hope, and Saving Lives. One of the major activities of the organization is the Distribution/Outreach Program. Items such as food, clothing, footwear and personal care items, to name a few are distributed to the poor and needy throughout the ten regions of Guyana. Medical equipment and supplies are also distributed to the Ministry of Health, Public Hospitals and Health Centres across the country. Schools also benefit from school furniture, books, teaching aids and stationery.
