Mabaruma Sub District, Region 1 lacked the educational infrastructure to adequately support its children as they grow and develop at the Nursery level. Nursery Education is a formative time for children, and what happens during this time can affect their future level of success.
Thus, FFTP(Guy) Inc supported Barima-Waini’s Department of Education and the Regional Democratic Council to improve access to quality education for 165 students in eight communities within Mabaruma.
The Enhancing Access to Nursery Education project will establish nursery departments and provide them with furniture and teaching materials. The students will experience a classroom environment as they prepare to attend primary school. With this improvement in childhood education, students will improve their academic performance and have a higher chance of completing their primary school education.
The communities and schools are Yarakita Nursery (Yarakita community), St. Anthony Primary (Arukamai community), St. Mary Primary (Lower Karibo community), Sacred Heart Primary (Sacred Heart community), St. Dominic’s Primary (St. Dominic’s community), St. John’s Primary (St. John’s community), Almond Beach Nursery School, St. Anselm’s Primary (St. Anselm’s community).
Education is one of the important factors or drivers of development. Without proper education, a country will not have a proper workforce, so as we develop our children we are developing our country as a whole.
Food for the Poor (Guy) Inc continues to play a pivotal role in ensuring that children in all regions of Guyana have access to quality education.
