Food For The Poor (Guyana) Inc., in partnership with STARR Computers and St. Francis Community Developers, handed over two new upgraded Information Technology Labs in Region 6. The labs, located at the New Amsterdam Technical Institute and the Guyana Police Force Training Academy, represented a significant investment in advancing IT education and skills development in the region. Each institution was also provided with equipment for their sick bay and their office compliments of FFTP (Guy) Inc.
Through a collaborative effort, Food For The Poor (Guyana) Inc. provided crucial support by donating furnishings for the labs, ensuring that students and trainees have access to comfortable and conducive learning environments. STARR Computers, a leading IT solutions provider, contributed state-of-the-art IT equipment and tools, empowering learners with the latest technology and resources. Additionally, St. Francis Community Developers played a vital role by providing critical logistical support, facilitating the smooth implementation of the initiative.

Ms. Benjamin further noted that by working hand in hand with all of the stakeholders, the collaboration is not only enhancing the delivery of education but also creating opportunities for students to engage with real-world challenges and solutions preparing them for the demands of the modern workforce. “Together, we have laid the foundation for a brighter future, one where education knows no bounds and where collaboration knows no limits,” she posited.
Corporate Sales/Marketing Manager Penny Francis revealed that Starr Computers is honored to partner with FFTP (Guy) Inc. and Saint Francis Community Developers. She explained that it was through the support of the customers for the last 31 years that Starr Computers was able to make such a donation.

Commander of Region 6 Mr. Shivpersaud Bacchus shared, “Thanks to this collaboration, we have become the first academy in the Guyana Police Force to offer computer repair training. This collaborative effort demonstrates a commitment to equipping law enforcement with cutting-edge technology. The enhanced IT facilities will undoubtedly bolster the force’s capabilities to better serving the community.”
