Hauraruni Girls’ Home Received Internet Access from National Data and Management Authority

Hauraruni Girls Home is located in the Hauraruni Village on the Soesdyke Linden Highway and was established in 1982 by the late Reverend Philip Mohabir, Founder of the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches in Guyana. The home currently has 17 girls. Since its establishment, it has provided shelter for over 150 girls.

Over the years’ Hauraruni Girls Home never had access to the internet because it is a rural area and the facilities were not there. They were utilizing the internet from Hauraruni Primary School, 20 minutes distance from the home. It created many challenges which were experienced more during the pandemic.

Food for the Poor (Guyana) Inc had consultations with National Data Management Authority (NDMA) to inquire whether they can facilitate the internet service at the home.

Tests were done and the internet was successfully installed at the Hauraruni Girls Home.

The Housemother and the girls are elated for internet access. They expressed how convenient this will be for them as their school requires a great deal of research and they can also enjoy watching movies.

NDMA has improved, installed and refurbished the internet at most of the homes under our Angel of Hope Program.

We are very thankful to the management and staff of NDMA.
