The first beneficiary of our Health Care Benevolence Programme

Aneeza (known as Annie) is five (5) years old and lives with her parents and siblings in the remote village of Sebai and aspires to be a Teacher.

Sebai is a riverine community in the Matarkai sub-district of Region 1, Barima Waini. This community has no access to electricity, potable water, and modern sanitary facilities.

Annie was born with a cleft lip and cleft palate. Cleft lip and cleft palate are openings or split in the upper lip, the roof of the mouth(palate), or both; they result when facial structures in an unborn baby do not close completely.

Children with this condition face a variety of challenges, including difficulty eating, ear infections, hearing loss, dental problems, and speech difficulties.

Through our Benevolence Programme, surgery is possible for Annie. Annie will undergo reconstructive bilateral cleft lip surgery and follow-up surgery nine months after. The surgery will take place at Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital on September 3, 2022, and will improve her quality of life.

Our Benevolence Program provides medical assistance to individuals with extreme medical needs and the inability to pay for proper treatment.
